NATIONAL STANDARDS AND ASSESSMENTS
Motion was made by Dyer and seconded by Dickman
passing a Resolution of the Bethel-Tate Board of Education on National Standards and
Assessment.
NATIONAL STANDARDS AND ASSESSMENT
WHEREAS, there is no provisions in the federal
constitution that permits the federal government to control education at the local
district level. States have authority to regulate education through the Tenth amendment of
the Constitution, and
WHEREAS, Ohio has established a system of
statewide proficiency testing and curriculum models for instruction, and
WHEREAS, Local boards of education have
successfully served our communities in Ohio for over 100 years, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Bethel-Tate Board of
Education believes that educational decisions can best be made at the local district
level, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Bethel-Tate
Board of Education is opposed to federally imposed educational standards, assessments and
regulations, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Bethel-Tate
Board of Education opposes any State of Ohio unfunded mandates associated with S. B. 55
and federally mandated programs.
